1. The overview of the exhibition hall. |
2. One of the most interesting news of this exhibition was several new
products of vaseline glass. These glasses were manufactured in Kamisaibara-mura (commonly
said as Ningyo-touge), which was most famous uranium mine in Japan. They
are using the uranium from that mine to manufacture these vaseline glass.
Japan has produced vaseline glass about 70 years ago, but the manufacturing
technology was lost due to the limitation on uranium before WW2.
In the year 2001, they have re-started to produce vaseline glass. These
items are beautiful flower vase, perfume bottle, and the tea-cup for Japanese
tea ceremony. |

3A.This was also an interesting exhibition of Gassiot experiment.
The vaseline glass glows green because of the plasma and electrons in the
vacuum glass tube. This experiment was known as Gassiot experiment. Gassiot
made this experiment more than 100 years ago, when the electron was not
discovered, and the electricity was not used. Mr. Nisimura of the JUGCC
member manufactured the similar apparatus.
